Federal Security Service

Under the Federal Act on Measures for Safeguarding National Security (BWIS Art. 22-24) fedpol, in cooperation with the cantonal authorities, is responsible for protecting federal officials and buildings, and people and buildings afforded protection under international law. These tasks are the responsibility of the Federal Security Service according to the Ordinance on Security Matters subject to Federal Powers (VSO).

The Federal Security Service provides advice on security matters to the agencies responsible for the buildings in which federal authorities are located. It also cooperates with other authorities such as cantonal and communal offices responsible for security, the army, foreign security agencies and private security companies.
