The national travelling exhibition ‘Versorgt, verdingt, vergessen?’ (Fostered, forced to work, forgotten) describes and contextualises compulsory social measures and placements and traces the story of how we have tried to come to terms with what happened.
The exhibition focuses on explaining the results of the academic and political inquiry. Visitors learn the personal life stories of the victims and consider issues relating to the conflict between care and coercion: what has the impact of compulsory social measures been on the victims? Can the wrongs of the past be righted? What can we do to prevent history from repeating itself?
An interactive guided tour is being developed for school classes. Each exhibition is accompanied by a programme of events organised by the exhibition venue concerned.
The exhibition has been conceived and organised by expositionen GmbH (curation and project management) and ZMIK Design (scenography) in collaboration with victims and others involved in the inquiry.
