Switzerland takes an integrated and cross-agency approach to tackling violence at sporting events that is in line with international standards and encompasses repressive as well as preventive measures.

With their blue uniforms, badges displayed prominently on their left arms, the words ‘Police fedpol’ emblazoned on their backs and their official paraphernalia, the police security officers stationed around the Parliament Building are fedpol’s most visible presence in public spaces. Their role is to keep the building and its occupants safe – a protection mission at the heart of Swiss democracy. fedpol also protects other locations in Bern, including the West, East and North Wings of the Federal Palace, the Inselgasse, the Bernerhof and the Federal Palace Media Centre.
