Martin Föhse has been vice director and head of the Crime Prevention and Legal Affairs Directorate since 1 May 2024. He holds a doctorate in law, is a practising attorney and works as a university lecturer – initially for eight years at the University of St Gallen and currently at the University of Bern. Before joining fedpol he worked as a practising lawyer in the field of constitutional and administrative law at the business law firm Kellerhals Carrard, most recently as a partner. Prior to that, he was head of the legal service at the Federal Office of Energy for several years.
